Research Associates
IMPACT Program - Research Associates
Research Associates are typically in their first year of the IMPACT Program, and are responsible for developing the Economic Forecast and supporting their assigned Fund Manager in performing sector and security analyses. They assume Fund Manager responsibilities in their second year on the IMPACT program.
Mohammed SufiyanSufiyan is a third year student at SMU double majoring in Finance and Accounting. He has experience working in investment management and portfolio management aside from other retail and marketing experience too. Within the IMPACT Fund, Sufiyan is the Research Associate for the Financial sector. After graduation he hopes to pursue a career in Investment Banking. |
Liam KenneyLiam is a fourth year Finance major at SMU. As a Research Associate, he is responsible for covering the Energy sector. He has experience working in a fast-paced medicine unit as a registered nurse after completing a Bachelor of Nursing degree. More recently, he has completed a work term with RBC dealing with financial services. After graduation, he plans on pursuing a career in private equity. |
Connor WillistonConnor is a fourth year student at SMU pursuing a major in Finance. He has experience working in both a research and analyst role from his time at the Department of National Defense and client service experience from several work experiences. Connor is a Research Associate for the Energy Sector. Upon graduation, he plans on pursuing a career in wealth management. |
Chris MeredithChris is a third year student at SMU doing a double major in FInance and Economics. He just completed a summer work term for the government of Nova Scotia, Finance and Treasury Board. He stays busy with extracurriculars as an executive and Captain of the SMU lacrosse team as well as playing Junior B hockey. Chris is a research associate responsible for the Tech, Telecommunications and Industrials sectors. He plans on pursuing a career in portfolio management or private equity. |
Shuyogya (Shu) KhatriShu is a third year finance major student at SMU. She is also a Co-op student at SMU and has completed two work terms working in financial services. In January, she will join RBC in Halifax as her final work-term. Shu is the Research Associate responsible for coverage of the Banking Financials Sector, in addition to being a TA for 3000 level finance courses. After graduation in 2024, she will be working towards her CFA designation and intends to pursue a career in commercial banking. |
Abhishek RaiAbhishek is a third-year Finance major at SMU. He has experience in Asset Management and Equity Research. Abhishek is a Research Associate responsible for coverage of the IT, Technology, and Industrial sector. After graduation, he will be working towards his CFA designation and intends to pursue a career in Asset Management or Investment Banking. |
Andrew BurnsAndrew is a third year student at SMU pursuing a double major in Finance and Management. He just completed a summer work term for Royal Bank of Canada’s Phillips, Hager & North Investment Counsel as a Portfolio Management Assistant. Outside of school, he referees elite hockey and manages a small business. Andrew is a research associate responsible for the Materials sectors. He plans on pursuing a career in portfolio management. |
Hallie WedgeHallie is a third year Finance and Economics major at SMU. She has experience working in life insurance, financial services, and inventory management, in addition to experience volunteering with nonprofits in the business and financial literacy space. Hallie is the Research Associate responsible for coverage of the Non-bank Financials Sector. After graduation, she plans on pursuing a career in financial literacy and investments. |
