Ways to Get Involved

  • Attend Campus Events: Participate in events like workshops, social events, and academic sessions organized by student services and other groups. Follow smu_studentlife to stay up to date on what events are coming up. 
  • Volunteer Opportunities: Give back to the community and build your resume through various volunteer programs on campus. Go on Career360 to view opportunities and apply.
  • Join Student Clubs and Societies: Engage with a wide variety of student-led organizations. Whether it’s cultural, academic, or interest-based, there’s something for everyone. Visit the SMUSA website for a list of all active societies.

Student Leadership Opportunities within the Student Success Centre

  • Keep It Social Volunteers: Help promote safe social behaviors during campus events, ensuring a positive experience for all. Email welcome@smu.ca for more information about becoming a Keep It Social Volunteer.
  • Food Room Volunteers: Assist in operating the Community Food Room, a resource for students in need. Email food.room@smu.ca for more information about becoming a Food Room Volunteer.
  • Peer Success Coaches: Offer academic support to your peers, helping them excel in their studies and improve their academic skills. Applications open in March, email student.success@smu.ca for more information.
  • Pack Leaders: Play an essential role in welcoming new students and assisting with their transition during major campus events. Applications open in February, email welcome@smu.ca for more information.
