About Responsible Leadership Day
At the Sobey School of Business (SSB), we believe leadership is more than strategy and profit; it is about purpose, ethics, and creating lasting value for people, communities, and the planet. That belief underpins Responsible Leadership Day, an annual SSB event that brings together students, faculty, alumni, business leaders, and community partners to explore what it means to lead with integrity, inclusivity, and long-term vision in a changing world.
Held each year in support of the Sobey School’s commitment to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Responsible Leadership Day deepens our engagement with the global movement toward responsible management education. The Sobey School has been a PRME signatory since 2014 and a PRME Champion since 2020, reaffirming its leadership in advancing responsible business education in Canada and beyond.
Each year, in collaboration with partners across academia, industry, and the community, the event provides a platform where ideas meet action—where sustainability, ethics, innovation, and business converge. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, student case competitions, and research symposia, participants engage with the challenges and opportunities of building organizations that balance profit with purpose.
Previous themes have explored responsible investing, circular economy, sustainable retail, and digital ethics, reflecting how responsible leadership continues to evolve across sectors and generations.
Responsible Leadership Day is made possible through the generous support of the Sobey Family, the Sobey Foundation, Sobeys Inc., and the Linton Family Sustainability in Business Trust.
This work matters because business does not operate in isolation. Every decision shapes lives, communities, and the environment. By fostering responsible leadership, the Sobey School of Business fulfills its mission to educate future leaders who not only achieve success but also lead with purpose.
Responsible Leadership Day is more than an event; it is a living expression of who we are and what we stand for—preparing leaders who create value for society as a whole.
