Sustainable Retail Hackathon
A hackathon is an intensive one- to two-day event where students collaborate in teams to address real-world challenges presented by businesses. These challenges extend beyond technical problems and often include social innovation issues. Within a maximum of 16 hours, students work together to develop and present innovative solutions. This format encourages rapid ideation, teamwork, and creative problem-solving, providing students with a dynamic and immersive learning experience.
This Hackathon is hosted as part of the Sobey School’s 7th Annual Responsible Leadership Day, in partnership with:
Hope Blooms is a youth-led social enterprise rooted in community impact. They are seeking innovative solutions to expand their social business ventures while strengthening connections with new consumers. Although the organization has an inspiring mission and story, many potential customers remain unfamiliar with their brand and initiatives. This challenge limits their growth, market reach, and ability to scale positive community outcomes.
During this hackathon, students will be challenged to create retail innovations and strategies that help Hope Blooms effectively share its story, attract new audiences, and drive sustainable growth.
