SMU Per-Course Fees

Included in the cost of undergraduate tuition are the following mandatory course fees:

Arts Learning Resource Fee 

This fee helps to create tutor programs for students taking Arts courses, and conversation partners for students enrolled in language courses.

Science Technology Fee 

This fee covers the costs for lab and demonstration equipment, as well as virtual lab technologies used by students taking science courses. Additionally, it supports capital projects that enhance student research opportunities while also providing resources to support students' learning in STEM subject areas.

Sobey School of Business (SSB) Career Services Fee 

This fee supports programs and services to develop undergraduate business students' personal and professional skills. It also funds dedicated career planning for business students.

 

Ancillary Fees

Ancillary Fees will be applied to a student account based on the number of credit hours per term.

Campus Renewal Fee 

This fee ensures students are studying at modern, state-of-the-art buildings, labs, and campus grounds. Additionally, it supports the restoration, repair, replacement, and/or modernization of existing facilities.

Copyright Access Fee 

This fee provides students with access to copyrighted materials used in courses and research.

Systems Technology Fee 

This fee funds a $16-million investment to improve and provide greater student access to technologies used for course delivery as well as support enhanced technology services for students.

Recreational Facilities Renewal 

This fee goes towards facility restoration, repair, replacement, and modernization.

Sport & Recreation 
The fee supports Homburg Centre operations, intramural sports, and free admission for students to regular-season home games. Full-time students receive access to the Homburg Centre fitness facilities, while part-time students receive a discounted membership.

Student Services Fee 

Through this fee, the university can provide enhanced mental wellness programming, student counselling, and programming. Overall, it aims to support student development, success, and experiences.
