Almost a quarter of our student population is made up of international students. And we love to celebrate that diversity. As an international student, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to socialize and network by participating in one of our international student events.

Spook-tacular Riddle Scavenger Hunt

Calling all Trick-or-Treaters!  Please join the SAGA Student Leaders for a Spook-tacular Scavenger Riddle Hunt. Get ready to solve riddles at every on-campus stop to uncover your next spooky location and sweet treats.  Use your sharpest wit, your best detective skills, and your Halloween spirit to conquer this haunted hunt! Get dressed up! The best costume will win a prize!

 

 

Diwali the Festival of Lights

Friday, Nov. 1  | 1-3 p.m.

Please drop by to enjoy festive Diwali treats and learn more about the traditions and significance of this vibrant festival. Group Sessions

Sign up for group sessions when you are ready to apply for permits, as the application will be completed during the session. 

Register for a group session through Microsoft Bookings. You will need to enter your name, A number, and SMU email address. Only students who register for a group session will receive a confirmation and invitation.

Group sessions are held on Microsoft Teams. Sign up for MS Teams with your SMU email address (name@smu.ca) and log in to the session using that account.

Immigration Advising

Starting March 1, 2022, the International Student Centre offers virtual one-on-one immigration advising appointments. Book an immigration advising appointment through Microsoft Bookings. You will need to enter your name, A number, and SMU email address. Only students who register for a group session will receive a confirmation and invitation.

In your 15-minute appointment, our immigration advisor will answer your questions about your study permit, work permit, or visa. These appointments are for permit questions only. If you are ready to apply for your permit or a permit extension, attend the group sessions noted above.

International students can continue to email inquiries, questions, and forms to international.centre@smu.ca. Please include your A# and full name.

    The International Student Centre is located at 305 Student Centre (on the third floor). 

    • Mondays  2 - 3:30 p.m.
    • Wednesdays 2 - 3:30 p.m.
    • Thursdays: 2 - 3:30 p.m.

International Advising

Our international student engagement advisor will answer any other questions, such as the transition to university and Canada, finding housing, or obtaining your identification cards or Social Insurance Number (SIN).
