Throughout the year, the SMU Chaplaincy hosts a variety of events rooted in Christian tradition and focused on building community, deepening faith, and offering moments of reflection. From seasonal celebrations and liturgical observances to retreats designed for quiet spiritual renewal, these events are open to all students curious about faith or seeking space for connection and meaning.

  • First Mass Back | January 7th 2026 at 2:30
    Our Chaplain, Fr. Nathanael will be welcoming students back to campus for the winter term with Mass and reception to follow. Join us for all following Wednesdays for Mass. All are welcome! 
  • Candlemas | February 2, 2026 at 6pm
    We will be celebrating Candlemas also known as the Feast of the Presentation. The name "Candlemas" comes from the tradition of having candles blessed in church services on this day, symbolizing Jesus as the "light of the world". Join us for a Soup and Skate to celebrate! 
  • Men's and Women's Community Nights | January 22 2026 at 6:30pm
    We will be gathering for Men's and Women's Community Nights. All are welcome for food, community and faith-based conversation.

Annual Events

A fun and communal event marking the beginning of Lent, with free pancakes served in the lounge. It’s both a celebration and a chance to learn more about the Christian tradition of fasting and reflection. 

When: February or early March (Shrove Tuesday)  

A reflective half-day retreat aligned with Easter observances, open to students seeking deeper meaning during Holy Week. 

When: March or April, depending on Easter calendar 

Held just before exams begin, this retreat provides a quiet and meaningful way to pause, reflect, and find peace amidst the stress of end-of-term. 

When: Early December 

Plans are underway to introduce a music ministry or program where students can explore faith through song, worship, and creative expression.
