Multi-Faith & Spiritual Spaces

Whether you're seeking a moment of stillness, time for personal reflection, or space for daily prayer, Saint Mary’s offers welcoming environments for students of all or no faith background. These spaces are open and inclusive, designed to support your spiritual wellness and individual practice.

The Chapel, located within the Chaplaincy space, offers regular quiet hours throughout the week. This is a peaceful, open space where students of any faith – or none at all – are welcome to reflect, pray, or sit in silence.

Location: Loyola Academic, room 183

Quiet Hours: offered daily from 10-2p.m., Monday through Thursday

Additional times may be posted seasonally or around holidays and exam periods.

Please respect the quiet nature of the space and refrain from using electronics or engaging in conversations during these hours.

Location: LA210

Located near residence buildings, this dedicated prayer space offers a quiet, private area for individual daily prayer and reflection. Though open to all students, it is most frequently used by Muslim students for daily prayers and was developed in collaboration with the SMU Muslim Students Association, SMUSA, and SAAS.

Locker rooms with ablution facilities (foot-washing) are located nearby for convenience.

Access: Most access points to the space are through residence buildings and require a keycard. If you don’t have a keycard, you can use the non-residence entrance: look for the door between the Residence Life offices and the Housing and Residence Office. Go through that door, take the stairs on your right, and the prayer space will be directly to your right at the top. Please note that this route is not accessible due to stairs.

If you require an accessible route, visit the Loyola Residence Desk for support with entry through one of the keycard-secured, accessible entrances.

We ask all users to review the Interfaith Prayer Space Rules and Guidelines to ensure the space remains respectful and accessible for all.
